Start With the Beach

Begin your day at Playa Flamenca Beach. The coastline here is made up of sandy coves, rocky sections and a beautiful coastal promenade. You can start with a swim, sit on the beach or simply take a walk beside the Mediterranean. For something a little quieter, continue towards Cala Mosca, a small sandy cove surrounded by the coastal path. The promenade also gives you the option of walking north towards Punta Prima or south towards La Zenia, making it easy to turn a simple beach visit into a longer coastal walk.

Saturday Morning at the Market

If you’re here on a Saturday, make time for the Playa Flamenca Market. The weekly market takes place along Calle Nicolás de Bussi, with stalls selling fresh fruit and vegetables, clothes, shoes, accessories, homeware and plenty of other things. It is more than somewhere to shop. It is also one of the regular meeting points for residents and visitors from across Orihuela Costa. Go in the morning, when the market is at its liveliest, and then continue towards the coast for a coffee or breakfast.

Lunch by the Sea

After the beach and the market, it’s time for lunch. Playa Flamenca has several restaurants, cafés and bars, including places around the Flamenca Beach Commercial Centre, just a short walk from the coast. You can keep things simple with lunch and a drink, or sit down and enjoy a longer Mediterranean-style afternoon. The great thing about Playa Flamenca is that you don’t have to plan everything in advance. Walk around, see what looks good and enjoy the atmosphere.

Start the Day Active

If you prefer to start your day with a little more energy, there are plenty of options in Playa Flamenca. Zumba by the promenade takes place every Monday, Wednesday and Friday with Gwen Allan, while on Sundays you can start the morning with Yoga with Paul Kundiss, with classes running from October to June. For other sports, the Centro Deportivo Orihuela Costa offers an indoor swimming pool, padel and tennis courts, basketball and football facilities. So whether you prefer dancing, yoga, swimming or a game of sport, there are plenty of ways to stay active while enjoying Playa Flamenca.

An Afternoon by the Mediterranean

After lunch, slow things down. Spend some more time on the beach, take another walk along the promenade or simply find somewhere to sit and enjoy the sea. If you’re travelling with children, the sheltered coves and promenade also make the area easy to enjoy as a family. And if you still want to explore, La Zenia is just along the coast, with the coastal paths connecting several parts of Orihuela Costa.

The area has restaurants, bars and terraces around the coast and commercial centres, with plenty of options for dinner or an evening drink. You can finish the day with a walk beside the Mediterranean, watch the sunset and enjoy the atmosphere before heading home.

How Long Do You Need?

You can see the main parts of Playa Flamenca in a few hours, but a full day gives you much more time to enjoy it. Morning at the beach, the Saturday market, lunch, an afternoon by the sea and dinner — it is an easy day without much travelling. And that’s part of the attraction.
