Villamartín is one of those places on the Orihuela Costa that feels a little different from the coastal resorts. There is no beach here, but there is plenty to do — from golf and green spaces to cycling, walking, restaurants, live music and one of the best-known plazas in the area.If you want to spend a day away from the beach, Villamartín is well worth exploring.

Morning — Golf or a Walk by the Canal

Start your morning with a round at Villamartín Golf. Opened in 1972, it is one of the oldest established golf courses on the Costa Blanca and has a long history in the region. The mature trees and Mediterranean vegetation give the course a very different feel from some of the newer golf developments around the area.

If golf is not your thing, start the day with a walk instead. The canal paths around Villamartín offer a completely different side of the Costa Blanca. You can walk or cycle along the canal in either direction, with greenery, open countryside and very little of the busy coastal atmosphere.

For cyclists, the canal also provides access to longer routes towards San Miguel de Salinas, Los Montesinos and further into the surrounding countryside. It is a good way to start the day if you want to get outside and see a quieter side of the area.

Lunch — Take Your Time

After a morning outdoors, head towards Villamartín and find somewhere for lunch. There are restaurants and cafés around the urbanisation, with plenty of different cuisines to choose from. You don’t need to plan a complicated itinerary here. Walk around, find a terrace you like and take your time. That’s part of the Villamartín experience.

Afternoon — Something Different

If you are travelling with children or simply fancy something a little different, you can head towards Greenlands Blue Lagoon Mini Golf, located between Villamartín and San Miguel de Salinas. The 18-hole course is surrounded by tropical planting, waterfalls and landscaped gardens, making it more of an experience than a traditional game of mini golf. It is particularly suited to families and groups looking for something relaxed and outdoors. Alternatively, keep the afternoon simple. Go for another walk, explore the local streets or find a café and enjoy a cold drink before the evening begins.

Evening — Villamartín Plaza

As the sun starts to go down, make your way to Villamartín Plaza. This is where Villamartín really comes alive. The plaza is built around a beautiful palm-lined central courtyard, surrounded by restaurants, bars and terraces. There is a wide choice of international food, so you can easily find somewhere for dinner without leaving the plaza. And then there is the music. Villamartín Plaza is well known for its live entertainment, particularly during the summer evenings. You can sit outside with a drink or dinner, listen to the music and simply enjoy the atmosphere. There is no need to rush. Dinner, music, a few drinks and a warm evening in the plaza can easily turn into the highlight of your day.

How Long Do You Need?

You can visit Villamartín for just a few hours, but it is easy to spend a full day here.A simple day could look like:

Morning: Golf or a walk along the canal
Lunch: Restaurant or café in Villamartín
Afternoon: Mini golf or more time outdoors
Evening: Dinner and live music at Villamartín Plaza

And if you are staying on the coast, Villamartín is close enough to combine with other parts of Orihuela Costa.

A Different Side of the Costa Blanca

Villamartín shows a different side of life on the Costa Blanca. There is no need for a beach to have a good day here. Golf, green spaces, cycling, good food, music and people coming together in the plaza — sometimes that’s all you need.
