If you spend time on the beaches of Orihuela Costa, you will soon come across Chiringuitos.

These beach bars can be found at several beaches and coves along the coast, from Punta Prima through Playa Flamenca, La Zenia and Cabo Roig to Campoamor.

They are a simple part of beach life here — a place to stop for a drink, something to eat, a coffee by the sea or simply some time in the sun.

Where Can You Find Them?

From north to south, Chiringuitos can be found at several of the main beaches along the Orihuela Costa coastline.

Punta Prima

The Chiringuito at Punta Prima is a great place to stop while enjoying the beach and coastal promenade.

Season: April to October

Playa Flamenca

There are two Chiringuitos around Playa Flamenca — at Cala Mosca and Cala Estaca.

Both are popular stops when exploring this part of the coast.

Cala Mosca: May to October

Cala Estaca: March to October

La Zenia

La Zenia has two Chiringuitos, at Cala Cerrada and Cala Bosque.

Cala Bosque is also known as La Zenia Beach and is one of the best-known beaches in the area.

Cala Cerrada: March to December

Cala Bosque: Open all year

Cabo Roig

In Cabo Roig, you will find Chiringuitos at Cala Capitán and La Caleta.

La Caleta is one of the two locations with a year-round service, making it a popular place to visit outside the main summer season too.

Campoamor

Further south, there are three Chiringuitos around Campoamor — at Aguamarina, La Glea and Barranco Rubio.

Aguamarina: June to September

La Glea: March to December

Barranco Rubio: June to September

More Than a Beach Bar

Chiringuitos are not only about food and drinks.

The beach bars are also associated with sunbeds, parasols, water sports and seasonal entertainment. During the warmer months, different locations host live music and other events.

This means that each beach can have a slightly different atmosphere depending on the day and the time of year.

Live Music & Events

Live music is one of the things that makes some of the Chiringuitos especially popular.

For example, Cala Bosque in La Zenia and La Caleta in Cabo Roig regularly feature live music and other entertainment during the season.

Programmes can change throughout the year, so it is always worth checking the latest programme before you visit.

A Stop Along the Coast

Chiringuitos are also a great part of a day spent exploring Orihuela Costa.

You can walk along the coast, stop at a beach for a swim, continue to the next cove and finish with a drink or something to eat by the sea.
