Discover the beaches and small coves of Orihuela Costa, from Punta Prima in the north to Campoamor in the south.

With around 16 kilometres of coastline, Orihuela Costa offers a great variety of beaches and coves. Some are wide and open, while others are smaller and more protected. You can find busy family beaches, quiet coves, places for swimming and snorkelling, and long stretches of coast that are perfect for a walk.

Here are some of the beaches we recommend discovering during your stay.

Punta Prima

Punta Prima is the northernmost beach of Orihuela Costa, right next to the border with Torrevieja.

The beach is easy to reach and has a promenade, sea views and several places to eat nearby. One of its most distinctive features is the beach lift, which provides direct access to the beach for people with reduced mobility.

It is a good choice if you are looking for an easy beach day with restaurants and other services close by.

Playa Flamenca

Playa Flamenca has two main beaches: Cala Mosca and Cala Estaca.

Cala Estaca is a sandy beach with a promenade, restaurants and seasonal beach services. It is a popular choice for families and offers easy access to the sea.

Cala Mosca is smaller and has a more natural setting, with rocks on both sides of the beach. It is a nice place for a quieter swim and to enjoy the coastline.

The two beaches are connected by the coastal promenade, making it easy to walk between them.

La Zenia

La Zenia has several beaches and coves, including Cala Bosque, Cala Cerrada and Cala Capitán.

Cala Bosque is the main beach in La Zenia and one of the most popular beaches in the area. It has a wide sandy beach, good facilities and easy access, making it suitable for families and visitors of all ages.

Cala Cerrada is a smaller cove surrounded by cliffs. Its more protected position gives it a different feel from the larger beaches nearby.

Further south, Cala Capitán is a beautiful sandy cove divided into two bathing areas by a small island known as Isla del Carmen. It is a popular place for swimming and enjoying the sea in a more sheltered setting.

Cabo Roig – La Caleta

La Caleta is the main beach in Cabo Roig and sits next to the marina, beneath the historic Cabo Roig watchtower.

The beach is sheltered by the shape of the coast, which helps create calmer waters. There is also a promenade and a number of places nearby where you can stop for a drink or something to eat.

Its location next to the marina and the old watchtower gives La Caleta a character that makes it different from many of the other beaches along the coast.

Aguamarina

Aguamarina is a quieter coastal area between Cabo Roig and Campoamor.

The beach combines sand and rocky areas and is surrounded by natural vegetation and coastal walking routes. It is a good place to explore on foot, enjoy the views and discover a less built-up part of the coastline.

Aguamarina is also connected by a coastal walkway with the Campoamor area, so it can easily be included in a longer walk along the coast.

Campoamor

Further south, the coastline reaches Dehesa de Campoamor, where you will find two main beaches: La Glea and Barranco Rubio.

La Glea is one of the largest and best-equipped beaches in Orihuela Costa. It is located next to the Campoamor marina and offers plenty of space, services and nearby places to eat and spend time by the sea.

Barranco Rubio is a longer and more open beach with a different atmosphere. The red cliffs, golden sand and blue Mediterranean create one of the most distinctive coastal views in Orihuela Costa.

Both beaches are good options if you want more space and a longer beach walk.

Which Beach Should You Choose?

There is no single best beach in Orihuela Costa. Each one offers something different.

If you want easy access and plenty of services, Punta Prima, Cala Bosque or La Glea are good options.

If you prefer smaller coves and a more sheltered setting, look at Cala Mosca, Cala Cerrada, Cala Capitán or La Caleta.

For a longer walk and more open coastline, Aguamarina and Barranco Rubio are worth exploring.

And if you are staying in Orihuela Costa for several days, the best option may simply be to visit more than one. The beaches are close to each other, but each has its own atmosphere.

One of the best things about Orihuela Costa is the variety you can find within a relatively small area. You can spend the morning on a busy family beach, walk along the coast in the afternoon and finish the day with a drink overlooking the Mediterranean.
