Others are just a short drive away and make a great day trip.

We have picked some of the events we enjoy most — the ones that are worth knowing about if you’re staying in Orihuela Costa.

January & February

Three Kings Parade

Christmas continues into January with the traditional Three Kings celebrations. Colourful floats, music, costumes and sweets fill the streets as Melchior, Caspar and Balthazar arrive for one of the most important dates in the Spanish Christmas calendar.

Medieval Markets

During the winter and throughout the year, several towns in the region transform their historic centres into medieval villages.

Orihuela, Santa Pola, Elche and Cartagena are among the places where you can experience these colourful markets, with traditional crafts, food, music and street entertainment.

Carnival

February brings Carnival to the streets of Orihuela Costa, with colourful costumes, music and a lively parade.It is one of those local events that is simple, fun and very easy to enjoy with the whole family.

March & April

St Patrick’s Day

Every March, Cabo Roig turns green for one of the biggest international celebrations on Orihuela Costa.The parade brings together marching bands, dancers, colourful costumes and thousands of spectators.

Easter / Semana Santa

Easter is a very different experience in this part of Spain.Semana Santa is deeply connected with local history and tradition, particularly in Orihuela and Cartagena, where the celebrations have international tourist recognition.

Spring & Summer

San Javier Air Show

The sky above the Mar Menor becomes the stage for one of the region’s most spectacular events. Aircraft, aerobatic displays and the Mediterranean coastline come together for an unforgettable day out.

Moros y Cristianos

Moros y Cristianos is one of the most distinctive traditions of the region.You can experience it locally in Campoamor, where the celebrations include the spectacular Gran Desembarco on Playa de la Glea. Larger celebrations also take place in Orihuela, Santa Pola, Alcoy and other towns across the region.

San Juan

On the night of 23 June, beaches across the Costa Blanca come alive for San Juan. In La Zenia, people gather by the Mediterranean for music, celebrations and, when officially permitted, the traditional beach bonfires.

Autumn

Carthagineses y Romanos

Every September, Cartagena goes back more than 2,000 years for one of the most spectacular historical festivals in Spain.For around ten days, the city becomes the setting for battles, parades, Roman and Carthaginian camps, historical performances and celebrations.

Halloween

At the end of October, Halloween brings a completely different atmosphere to Orihuela Costa. La Florida becomes one of the main places to experience the celebrations, with costumes, entertainment and the annual Halloween parade.
